Courses for Adults

Wokingham Waterside Centre provides a high quality introduction to Paddlesport courses that lead to National Governing Body qualifications.

We are approved by the British Canoe Union and all our courses meet their high standards. The following courses are for adults age over 14 years. For courses for under 14's please see our Holiday Activity Section.

Paddlesport Start:
This is designed as an encouragement award that candidates should be able to achieve in a basic starter session of approximately 2 hours. These are available on request. Please contact us to arrange a date.

Cost: £20.00

BCU 1* Award:
This 5 week or 2 day course is for beginners and paddlers who may be out of practise. It is an introductory course, where you will learn the basic skills to paddle a kayak and canoe.

Cost: £65.00

1* Improvers Course:
Practice your skills and build your confidence over 4 weeks.

Cost: £40.00

BCU 2* Award:
This is 8 week or 3 day course in which you learn the skills that enable you to become a competent paddler in both canoe and kayak.

Pre requisites:  Experience of flat water paddling in both canoe and kayak (1 star skills).

Cost: £80.00

BCU 3* - Touring Award Training and Assessment:
This is a three day course and focuses on group and river awareness on rivers. It is designed for regular paddlers who wish to formally establish their ability. The price included course registration and certificate fees.

Pre requisites: Two Star skills.

Costs: Adults - £100.00

BCU 3 - Open Canoe Award Training and Assessment:
This is a three day course. The three star open canoe award focuses on group and river awareness on flat water. It is designed for regular paddlers who wish to formally establish their ability. The price included course registration and certificate fees.
